Behlen Manufacturing Four Buildings for Canada's Largest AI Data Centre
Behlen Industries, a Brandon-based steel building manufacturer, is manufacturing four pre-engineered buildings for Bell Canada's $1.7 billion artificial intelligence data centre near Regina, Saskatchewan. The facility is expected to be Canada's largest AI data centre with 300 megawatts capacity. Each of the four buildings exceeds 100,000 square feet, with components manufactured at Behlen's Brandon and Clavet facilities. Construction officially began in August 2026, with the first data hall expected online in the first half of 2027. The project is expected to generate up to $12 billion in long-term economic value.
HIVE/BUZZ contracts fibre optic network upgrade at Grand Falls AI data center
HIVE Digital Technologies, through subsidiary BUZZ High Performance Computing, announced a fibre optic network overbuild and carrier transport upgrade at its Grand Falls Data Centre in New Brunswick to advance the facility to Tier III HPC capability. The project involves contracting with Bell Canada for dedicated high-capacity optical wavelength services including multiple 100 Gbps and 400 Gbps connections, with delivery expected in Q3 2026. HIVE will commit approximately $3.1 million over 5 years to support the 50 MW sovereign AI factory buildout at the already 70 MW powered campus, addressing critical connectivity infrastructure for enterprise and government AI workloads.
