    ERCOT grants conditional Base Load status to IREN's 2 GW Sweetwater Hub in Texas

    IREN announced that the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has conditionally included its 2 GW Sweetwater Hub in West Texas as Base Load under ERCOT's new Batch Zero interconnection process. The Sweetwater Hub comprises two sites: Sweetwater 1 on 1,700 acres with 1,400 MW expected capacity, and Sweetwater 2 on 500 acres with 600 MW capacity. IREN energized a high-voltage substation at Sweetwater 1 earlier in 2026, with 300 MW of data-centre capacity expected by Q4 2027. Batch Zero is ERCOT's new approval process for large electricity users requesting 75 MW or more, designed to assess feasibility, allocate capacity, and identify needed transmission upgrades; as of June 2026, nearly 89% of ERCOT's 438,000 MW of tracked large load requests are from data centres.
