    Meta announces $50B AI data center in Louisiana, largest in company history

    Meta is building a $50 billion artificial intelligence data center across 6 square miles in Richland Parish, Louisiana, along the Mississippi Delta in the state's northeast corner. The project, publicly announced in December 2024 after nine months of secret negotiations, will be financed through a separate entity called Beignet LLC with Wall Street investor Blue Owl providing the bulk of capital; Meta will lease the facility rather than own it outright. The data center will be powered by dedicated natural gas turbines supplied by Entergy Louisiana and will employ 1,000 full-time workers once operational, with the company investing $1 billion in local infrastructure and $5 million in community college job training.
