Core Scientific announced progress on infrastructure expansion projects in September 2024, including commencement of substation work at its Muskogee, Oklahoma site to support a planned 100-megawatt high-performance computing data center. The company also reported on-schedule finalization of a 100-megawatt bitcoin mining expansion at its Pecos, Texas facility. The company operated approximately 198,000 bitcoin miners across eight data centers and earned 345 self-mined bitcoin in September while hosting 22,000 customer-owned miners.
Core Scientific Files S-1/A; Plans 500MW Muskogee Data Center
Core Scientific, a Bitcoin and Ethereum mining company, filed an amended S-1 registration statement ahead of its IPO. The company operates six fully operational data centers across North Carolina, Georgia, North Dakota, and Kentucky with 606MW capacity as of June 30, 2022. Core Scientific announced plans for a seventh facility in Denton, Texas (22MW operating, 300MW total when complete) and an agreement with the Muskogee City-County Port Authority to develop a 500MW data center in Oklahoma.
Core Scientific to Build 500 MW Data Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma
Core Scientific announced a partnership with the Muskogee City-County Port Authority to develop a 500 MW data center at the Port of Muskogee John T. Griffin Industrial Park in Oklahoma. The facility will be developed in phases with initial operations beginning in late 2022 and completion expected in 2023. Core Scientific will employ its proprietary Minder fleet management software to enable grid stability through demand curtailment, and the project is expected to create dozens of high-tech jobs.
Sabre Holdings to Divest Data Centers and IT Assets to EDS
Sabre Holdings Corp filed an 8-K on March 15, 2001, announcing the divestiture of approximately $778 million in data center and IT infrastructure assets to EDS. The transaction includes Sabre's Tulsa, Oklahoma data center, outsourcing contracts with major airlines (American Airlines, US Airways, Gulf Air) and Dollar/Thrifty Rent-A-Car, plus desktop and mid-range computer management systems.
