  Stockholm pipes data centre waste heat into city district heating network

  Stockholm has connected approximately thirty data centres to its district heating network, recovering waste heat to warm around 30,000 apartments annually. Operators including Bahnhof, EcoDataCenter, Digital Realty, Global Connect, and DigiPlex participate in the Open District Heating programme, which began in 2014 and now generates a revenue stream of roughly 2 million SEK per megawatt of heat delivered per year for the data centre operators. By 2022, twenty data centres held formal supplier contracts, with the arrangement expected to meet ten per cent of Stockholm's total heating needs by 2030.

  Digital Realty opens 6.2 MW Nairobi Two data center in Kenya

  Digital Realty has commissioned Nairobi Two Data Center (NBO2), a 6.2 MW facility in Kenya, expanding its Nairobi campus alongside the existing NBO1 facility. The NBO2 site offers 4,000 square meters of IT space and enables connections to over 100 networks, two internet exchange points, and a satellite teleport. The opening coincides with iColo's transition into the Digital Realty brand across Kenya and Mozambique. Kenya's total data center capacity stood at 15 MW in 2025, with forecasts projecting growth to 25 MW by 2030.
